5 Ways to Immediately Shift Your Mood

It can be tough to shift yourself off of the negative frequency but here are a few suggestions that may help aside from deep breathing, meditation, or prayer:

1) Turn on the radio and listen to some music - Nothing helps turn a bad mood into a good one like turning on some good tunes. I have young kids so we usually turn on the toddler station and sing away. It not only elevates my mood but my children's moods as well. DOWNLOAD: "25 Health and Healing Hacks".

2) Take off your socks and shoes, and walk around barefoot outside - There's a lot of information out there about "earthing" and for me, it instantly helps to connect with the earth's natural energy. 3) Take a timeout - When I am feeling overwhelmed in the day I will lock myself in the bathroom for a good five minutes for a little self-care. I do this at work and at home when I need to get a hold on how I'm feeling. If I'm at home I will wash my face or spend some time on my hair. If I'm at work, I will do some squats to lift my mood. 4) Take the time to prepare a nutritious meal - I'm not vegan but I've noticed that if I am having less patience than normal, anxiety, or feeling stressed out, and when I take the time to prepare a meal with lots of fresh veggies and fruit it quickly improves the aforementioned. There is definitely something to those high vibrational foods that give your mind, body, and soul the positive power that it needs. 5) Read inspiring quotes - If I don't have the time to take five minutes for myself, or cook, or listen to music or earth then I will take a minute to read something inspiring. Every time I come across a quote online that resonates with me I save it and refer back to it as I need. Re-reading the quotes can help inspire and shift my mood in a positive direction. We all want to be happy but life happens and can be overwhelming at times. Our moods change and shift. Beginner's Guide Opening The Chakras

chakras For thousands of years, the ancient teachings of Hinduism and Buddhism have embraced the concept of etheric energy points in the body known as chakras. For most people, it is thought, the chakras are either blocked or not functioning properly. If the chakras are not balanced, peace with oneself cannot be achieved. True happiness becomes evasive. This is when you need to open the chakras.

1) The Root Chakra - This chakra is located at the base of the spine and represents one's foundation and feeling of being grounded. It concerns survival issues, such as money, and food. How to open the root chakra:

  • Assume a normal meditation posture (sitting or lying down).
  • Allow the tips of your thumb and index finger to touch gently, in a peaceful motion.
  • Now, concentrate on the Root chakra.
  • Chant the sound "LAM", silently yet clearly.
  • Keep on taking deep breaths until you are completely relaxed.
2) The Sacral Chakra - This chakra is located near the lower abdomen, about two inches below the navel (or the width of three fingers). It concerns feelings of abundance, sexuality, and pleasure. How to open the sacral chakra:
  • Assume a normal meditation posture (sitting or lying down).
  • Put the left hand underneath the right hand, with the left palm touching the back fingers of the right hand.
  • Allow the tips of the thumbs to touch gently.
  • Now, concentrate on the Sacral chakra.
  • Silently, chant the sound "VAM" until you are completely relaxed.
3) The Solar Plexus Chakra - This chakra is located in the upper abdomen, above the stomach. It concerns feelings of self-worth, self-confidence, and self-esteem.
  • Assume a normal meditation posture (sitting or lying down).
  • Put your hands in front of your stomach, slightly below your Solar Plexus.
  • Allow your fingers to join at their tips, all pointing away from you.
  • Keep the thumbs crossed and straighten the other fingers.
  • Now, concentrate on the Solar Plexus chakra.
  • Silently, yet clearly, chant the sound "RAM" until you are completely relaxed.
4) The Heart Chakra - This chakra represents one's ability to feel, give, and receive love. When blocked, love, joy, and inner peace may diminish.
  • Assume a normal meditation posture (sitting or lying down).
  • Allow the tips of your index finger and thumb to touch on both hands.
  • Put your left hand on your left knee.
  • Bring your right hand in front of the lower part of your breastbone.
  • Now, concentrate on the Heart chakra, located just above the heart.
  • Silently, but clearly, chant the sound "YAM" for about 10 minutes.
5) The Throat Chakra - This chakra is located in the throat and concerns communication, self-expression and feelings, and the truth.
  • Assume a normal meditation posture (sitting or lying down).
  • Cross your fingers on the inside of your hands, minus the thumbs.
  • Allow the thumbs to touch at their tips, and point them up.
  • Now, concentrate on the Throat chakra, located at the base of the throat.
  • Silently, but clearly, chant the sound "HAM." Keep chanting for about 5 to 10 minutes.
6) The Third-Eye Chakra - This chakra is located in the center of the forehead and concerns one's ability to focus and perceive the big picture. It concerns intuition, imagination, wisdom, and the ability to make decisions.
  • Assume a normal meditation posture (sitting or lying down).
  • Put your hands in front of the lower part of sternum.
  • Keep your middle fingers straight, touching their tips and pointing away from your body.
  • Keep the other fingers bent and touching at the upper two phalanges.
  • The thumbs should point toward you and touch at the tips.
  • Now, concentrate on the Third-Eye chakra, located a little above the center of the two eyebrows.
  • Silently, but clearly, chant the sound "OM". Keep chanting until your feelings are intensified.
7) The Crown Chakra - This chakra is located at the very top of the head and concerns inner and outer beauty, one's connection to ‘Spirit', and pure bliss. It's the highest chakra.
  • Assume a normal meditation posture (sitting or lying down).
  • Put your hands in front of your stomach.
  • Allow your ring fingers to point up, touching at their tips.
  • Keep the rest of your fingers crossed, with the left thumb underneath the right.
  • Now, concentrate on the Crown chakra located at the tip of your head.
  • Silently, chant the sound "NG" for about 10 minutes. Make sure you chant it clearly.

Boost Your Serotonin Naturally

Your mental functions will improve, you will get better sleep and you will have an easier time staying physically active.

Optimize Your Before-Bed Schedule - Shut off the electronics at least one hour before bedtime and establish firmer ground rules with your work life. Kinesiology

kinesiology The body can use many methods to signal you as to its knowledge and awareness about something. In kinesiology, rather than "heavy" and "light", it's "weak" and "strong". The body will go weak when addressing something not good for it, and will remain strong when it's something good for it. There are many demonstrations of way to access this response on YouTube, but I have my favorites. One is the index finger to thumb method. Place the pad of your thumb over the nail on your index finger. Then, "flick" the index finger off the thumb. You are attempting to hold the index finger with the pad of the thumb. When there is a weak response, you will not be able to hold the index finger on the thumb. When there is a strong response, you'll be able to hold the index finger on the thumb. To begin using this method, you'll need a reference as to what the "strong" and "weak" signals are. A simple test is to hold the index finger with the thumb pad and test the statement: My name is JOE (a name not yours). You'll find there is a weak response, and you will not be able to hold the index finger with the thumb pad. This will calibrate how much strength to use while holding the index finger with the thumb pad. You can use this method to find out "yes" and "no" answers about virtually anything, and those answers will be uncannily accurate. Breathe In Source, Breathe Out Source

breathe On my mother's side of the family, her dad was an insurance salesman, but on Sundays he was the Baptist Church deacon and sang in the choir in a small Kansas town. On my father's side, his dad was a Baptist Minister with divinity and education degrees, as well as being the college president of another small Kansas town.

Although we certainly could have had a serious religious mandate in our family, we were "casual Christians", dutifully attending church on Sundays, but keeping spiritual matters to pretty much that one day of the week.

I remember one particular Sunday in my preteen years when I was lightly questioning what church was exactly. Why do we gather in this ornate building with all these other people to sing weird songs and be lectured to by this pastor guy? By that time in my Sunday school education, I was pretty familiar with what was in the Bible, yet I was having trouble making the connection to God. God seemed to be the goal, but I didn't understand what the approach was to "getting there". It seemed like a lot of work to get to God, and there was a lot of judging and self-recriminations involved. I just was having trouble buying the whole religious narrative.

I think this kind of cognitive dissonance motivated me to make further spiritual inquiries as I grew into my teen years. I read books by Teilhard de Chardin, Yogananda, dove into the Bhagavad Gita, and had my antenna up for any other kinds of spiritual inquiries that explained what God was, and how to get there.

I've written before about my psychedelic experience of "seeing God" that shook my reality for years. But it did crack open a small window to a reality I hadn't known existed. That glimpse into the Godhead was a sort of "double down" for my spiritual inquiries that eventually led me to realize that God is not "over there" somewhere, or only available when we've executed some penance, worn the hair shirt, or performed self-flagellation.

God is right here, right now, no matter what emotional conundrum, existential crisis, or mental defect we may be going through. God is sitting right there through what I call the "God Portal" that is part of the standard equipment of being human.

It is our assumed "personality", or "identity" that has created a sort of false reality about who we think we are, and what we think we are being in the world. We are aware of it--we call it the "ego" when it gets to be socially awkward, but really all it is is a cardboard construct we stand up in front of the God Portal to maintain a sort of automatic status quo of self that is easy to control and understand.

The reasons we erected such a deflective edifice was to virtue signal whom we consider our authorities to assure them that we are no threat to the narrative we adopted from them. This allows us permission to "go along to get along" in a good slave sort of way. But, it has nothing to do with the most important and vital truth that we are, literally, living God's life.

It is through our God Portal that the Creator experiences his Creation, and if we tear down our ego edifice, the portal becomes an open and intimate two-way exchange of Universal Consciousness. Extrapolating this out further, we see the God Portal as connected to every other sentience in the Universe, revealing our innate human ability of sharing consciousness with anyone anywhere, since God is all there is.

Consciousness adept, Brad Johnson, in one of his YouTube series, "Prana Transmission", offers a wonderful way to keep that God Portal lubricated: Breathe in Source, breathe out source. This simple exercise can be enhanced with what yogis call the "cleansing breath": breathe in to the count of "4", breathe out to the count of "6" five times.

A variation of this exercise is to use it to delete or de-energize negative thoughts and feelings that may be causing fears and disruptions in your life. First, breathe in and breathe out God/Source, then hold the offending thoughts and/or feelings while doing the 4 and 6-count cleansing breath. You'll find the thoughts and feelings will fade pretty quickly. Simply repeat if they resurface or reveal other negativities. This can also be used to create something desirable by simply breathing in the Creator, breathing out the Creator, and then offering that vision while doing the yogic breath.

As I blatantly found out from my psychedelic experience, socialized and enculturated humans find it terrifying to be without their cardboard ego constructs. We haven't been allowed to acknowledge our God Portal, let alone be shown how to access it. In fact, we have been trained for thousands of years that direct access to God is dangerous, despicable and even downright evil; and to be a "good person" we must obey authority, minimize our personal creations, and deflect any and all calls for the opposite by so-called social insurrectionists.

We are as much a part of God, as God is a part of us. There is no actual distinguishing demarcation between where we "end" and Source "begins"--it is simply a Universal continuum of consciousness where any boundaries or barriers are merely convincing illusions without any true substance or meaning.

By consistently breathing Source/God/Creator, that portal expands until it disappears into a ubiquitous, eternal Universal Life indistinguishable from Self. We experience our experience as God's experience of our life--forever flowing and expanding in everlasting love, peace and gratitude.
