My first contact with the Tattvas Essential Oils was about two years ago, while visiting the oils' benefactor, aromatherapist and alchemist, Candice Covington. I took in the exotic scents of these oils, most of which are from jungle areas of the world. The fragrances transported me to wild and alien terrains that felt nonetheless like home.
We had made the decision to add the oils to our inventory of products at Pure Energy Rx, but it wasn't until I started to read Candice's concise and enlightened documentation about the oils that I realized what we had here was not just nicely scented oils, but a system and a tool for personal transformation.
I attended a small workshop of healers who had been using the oils in their practices, organized by Aileen Halverson and Jackie LoBosco. Using Candice's fine manual about the oils, Panchatattva: Karma & The Metaphysics of The Five Great Elements, Aileen and Jackie constructed a study plan for the afternoon that included making our own blends of the oils. Added to the workshop were analogous gem elixirs to act as potentizers for the oils.
Although I had an intellectual understanding of what the oils represented (the Five Elements), I hadn't really made the macrocosmic connection that these oils WERE the Five Elements, just in an essential oil form.
One activity of the workshop was doing some shamanic journeying to find subconscious information that could be used to formulate our own blend of the oils and gem elixirs. The process is very simple. One closes the eyes and imagines walking a sloping path (or taking an elevator) down to the "underworld." Here I am greeted by my guide (mine won't tell me his name, but he looks like the gremlin on the wing in that Twilight Zone episode with William Shatner in 60s). The guide directs my attention and sometimes we fly to various locales where he points out what it is that will answer my query or reveal an intention.
In this case, we flew. High up into snow-capped mountains. I stood at a peak, looked down at my feet. There was snow, but under the snow was pure diamond. I looked out from the diamond peak, and could see for miles and miles. Since I was looking to spot the most abundant of the five elements during the journey, I came up with space (or ether), and earth (mountain), and, of course, the diamond gem elixir.
We returned from the journey, and excitedly began making our oil and elixir blends. Aileen recommended that we pay particular attention to wearing the oil at bedtime and then observing any changes in our dreams. That night, as I dreamed under the spell of the oil, I flew. And it was one of those repetitious dreams you have sometimes, where one theme seemed to repeat but in different circumstances. In every situation I was in within the dream, I was either standing and floating, or levitating in amazement, or flying as though I always flew.
I woke up realizing that the oil was telling me to never forget my talents, and to never take them for granted--always remaining in some way in awe of life, and in gratitude for all its blessings.
I began a deep reading of the Panchatattva book, and as each element was described, I immersed myself in the energy of the particular oil. I believe what happens (at least for me) is that because each oil is such an exact analog to each element and elemental combination, that the parts of yourself that are analogs to the elements respond. Because we are all manifestations only of the Five Elements (The Tattvas), it is easy to see the power in this simplicity. The most useful thing for me about the action of the oils is that subconscious or unconscious parts of myself respond to the elements, and in responding, make themselves conscious. This means that long-standing old patterns can be exposed, and thus consciousness increased.
After the workshop, which was held at Jackie's small horse ranch, we were invited to go meet the horses. Jackie told us that she works with healing animals, horses in particular, and uses the Tattvas oils in her work. We had a delightful time meeting these wonderful horse beings. Jackie breeds the Rocky Mountain horse, an unusually friendly, almost cuddly breed, dog-like in its behaviors and very social with humans. (I made a short video of our visit).
I had a chance to talk more in depth with Jackie recently about her use of the oils with the horses. She said that they really respond to the oils, to the point that if Jackie has an oil on her hand, they proceed to lick at the oil.
She has had many experiences calming traumatized horses. In one case, the horse had been in a trailer/truck accident, requiring hundreds of stitches. Needless to say, the poor horse was terrified of getting into a trailer again. Jackie was able to calm the horse enough for it to be transported using the Kaffir Lime Tattvas Oil. The oil amplifies the highest properties of air and fire, both of which had been seriously snuffed out in the horse from the accident. The horse's owners were amazed and grateful.
In Candice's Panchatattvas book, she quotes from the Trantraraja Trantra, where "Shiva replies that the tattvas permeate the entire body and mind. Everything you do and think is under the influence of these tattvas. Therefore... it is necessary to understand how the tattvas behave and in which manner they can be controlled and utilized."
...And in these Tattvas Oils is exactly the method to do that.
